Effect of High and Low Pressure EGR on Diesel Engine Matched with Mechanical Turbo-compound

Abstract The mode of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and the flow recirculated greatly impact heat recovery mechanical turbo-compound. A matching turbo-compound diesel engine is established with GT-power software to study effect EGR rate on it, working performance under high-pressure low-pressure also studied. results show that compared original engine, effective thermal efficiency matched has been improved. Under two modes, as increase, efficiencies are decreasing. maximum torque condition, fuel economy compound turbine system better than system; while underrated power difference small.
